About
What began with a single, powerful question—"Where are all the Black women photographers in LA?"—became a movement. In March of 2025, our founder, Kai Bouhmad, chose not to wait for a community to appear but to build one herself. She wanted consistent photo walks, mentorship, and a real creative circle. Today, Black Girls Shoot Too (BGST) is a vibrant creative space where Women of Color photographers connect, create, and let their talents shine.

Mission
Our mission is to create a safe and inspiring, environment where every WOC photographer feels seen, supported, and empowered to take her artistry to the next level.
Vision
Our space provides a sense of belonging, offering a platform for networking, education, mentorship, and collaboration, which can lead to increased visibility and professional opportunities. Women of color photographers bring unique perspectives and stories that are often marginalized or overlooked. Here at BGST our aim is to amplifies these voices, ensuring their work is seen, valued, and contributes to a more diverse and representative visual landscape.
