About
"Black Girls Shoot Too" was started in March 2025 in Los Angeles on a whim by Kai Bouhmad. Often out shooting alone with her camera, she found herself wondering, "Where are all the Black women photographers?" Wanting to build real community and connect with other women of color behind the lens, she created a space for local photographers to link up, share their craft, and capture the world together. What began as a simple effort to find fellow visual storytellers has grown into a grounded movement centered on connection, creativity, and representation.

Vision
BGST provides a sense of belonging, offering mentorship, education, and collaboration for women of color photographers at every stage. Beginners are always welcome—you don't need a perfect portfolio to take up space here. We exist to amplify marginalized voices globally, ensuring that every story is told, every perspective is valued, and the future of photography is shaped by us.

Our mission is to cultivate a safe, inspiring space where women of color photographers are seen, supported, and empowered globally.
